In the past 7 days, I’ve had several people randomly email me saying that a site called ShoeBoxed.com looks like Less Accounting. So I check out their site.... and well.... “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” -- I guess. OK, maybe they didn’t use our site as inspiration. Perhaps I have a twin out there, separated at birth and he (or she) designed ShoeBoxed.com. ….you decide…
Notice the colors, the logos, the layouts and even the ideas are similar.
I have to say, the style and layout is the same…AND the theme is EXACTLY the same! Imitation is great I suppose, but with a bit of recognition. It is too much a coincidence in similarity to be an accident.
Maybe shoboxed has no idea that Mr. Rob Goodlatte (the redesign expert) redesigned their site with Less Accounting on the mind. ;)
what a funny catch!

Yup, 37signals designs are almost exactly the same!
I found this post while doing a bit of ego-surfing on Google. I’m the designer behind Shoeboxed’s redesign—at least, before they took over and royally messed it up.
I can assure you any similarity is complete coincidence—this is the first time I’ve encountered your LessAccounting site. The background color is based on the foreground color of Shoeboxed’s original site, and the logo mark was also their creation, not mine.
I think it is a bit ridiculous to claim plagiarism in this case. A screenshot plus some marketing copy next to it isn’t exactly a novel idea. As other commenters mentioned, 37signals uses this layout for nearly all of their product sites. You also neglect to show the bottom 70% of the page, which looks dramatically different.
Besides, I have a reputation to protect. Why would I rip off such a simple design? I don’t appreciate being accused of thievery.
Looks like a lot of apps, 37signals even have this look going on.

I agree with Douglas. 37 Signals must be beaming from all the flattery!

They don’t look anything alike if you ask me… shrug :)
